Hardback book is in Poor condition and in three pieces. Front cover, back cover and spine with the pages attached. Very worn and disintegrating leather. Letter in book dated 1890 from an attorney (George F. Lyon) to Friend Silas who had requested a law book with notations written in by Mr. Chapman. This book refered to as "Cowens' Treatise" was selected by Mr. Lyon. Also mentioned in the letter as enclosed was "a copy of his Address delivered at the Memorial Services of Gen. Grant held in this city." Unfortunately this is not with the book. Also not included are minutes in the case of Tabor vs. the D. L. W. R. R. Co. which were also stated as being enclosed. The letter is typed with "(dictated)" stated, signed and with corrections made by hand.
